The Next Generation’s Freedom: A Talk and Reading by award winning young reader’s author Ray Anthony Shepard

Ray Anthony Shepard’s books give young readers and the young at heart a compelling and insightful view of race in American history. His latest book, A Long Time Coming: A Lyrical Biography of Race in America from Ona Judge to Barack Obama, was named one of the Best Books of the Year by Kirkus Reviews, Booklist, and School Library Journal. Ray is an Honorary Fellow of the Massachusetts Historical Society and serves on the Commonwealth’s Special Commission for the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution. Unsurprisingly, his upcoming book shares the little-known story of the first day of America’s fight for independence. The Forgotten Patriots of Color will be published next year.
Mr. Shepard will give a talk on Race at America’s 250th. He will also read from his forthcoming book about race at time of the American Revolution, and open the floor for questions from the audience.
